cookislandsnews (Rarotonga, Cook Islands) The ministry says that under the international waters Ridge to Reef project, they need to collect data on species, the landscape and the environmental condition in the area.
They are assessing the lagoon, outside the reef and some inland studies, to help them better manage stormwater in Ngatangiia.
The Coastal Assessment looks at soil erosion and sediments entering the lagoon.
The ministry has brought in Pacific Divers to to the evaluation, which should be completed by the end of September.
The project is already providing valuable information to help them manage land development, the ministry says.
